The Team Tokey Hill Way!

Our goal for 2015 is to be able to positively affect as many lives as possible through our proven programming. The positive impact that has already been made in so many lives is a testament to the possibilities as we move forward into the new year with our goals set higher.  With the help of contributions and donations, the range and scope of influence on so many more young lives is possible. These same programs are desired nationwide and internationally due to how well they work, but Tokey Hill has his sights on improving Ross County Ohio the place where he grew up.

Many champions face adversity, and this was true for Tokey Hill. His early life had no medals or honors. He grew up in a small town in Ohio in less than fortunate circumstances. An undiagnosed case of ADHD led to Tokey being labeled a “problem child. “He found some early success in sports, but even that was taken away when a high school football injury sidelined him at fifteen. Needing to work, he took a job cleaning a local Karate school. The Sensei there recognized his exceptional skills and soon gave him lessons in exchange for additional work. Soon, Tokey was winning tournaments.

Tokey’s success in the martial arts changed the course of his life.  In enabled him to attend Ohio University on scholarship.  He continued to fight competitively, specializing in the form of Shotokan karate.  Tokey created a unique fighting-style, combining traditional martial arts with advanced training methods.  His ability to motivate himself and others was another key element in both his personal wins and his National Team victories, which now include four world championships under his coaching.  Because of his own life, Tokey sees the value of martial arts training because of its ability to change lives and guide our youth in a positive direction.  Our goal in working with youth is not only to teach self defense, but to build a positive foundation based on values and work ethic.  We strive instill values which will stay with them long after they leave the training floor.  The possibilities are endless with contributions  and sponsorships from businesses and people like you.  We need your help to reach more children so that we can continue to  implement these programs which have been instrumental in changing lives, especially in some of the more challenging groups such as economically deprived, at-risk, and developmentally and physically challenged youth.

Training in the martial arts promotes behavioral change and personal development, while providing children with positive outlets during some of the most dangerous hours for youth, after school until sundown.  Our programming captures the youths’ interest like few other activities will.  The best part is our programs promote athletic growth, confidence, self-esteem, leadership, positive decision making, and the ability to deal with peer pressure and maintain focus on their studies.  With our focus, and your contribution, our goal is to change the world one class, one student, and one kick at a time.

Fundraiser Invitation Letter

Dear Friends,

I hope you are doing well- enjoying a great holiday season.  I had a wonderful time with family and friends in Ohio over the holiday season.

I wanted to tell you about something that some friends of mine here in my hometown, including the mayor and a couple of local businessmen, are doing on behalf of the Team Tokey Hill organization.  In order to bring awareness to the things we do in the community and to help fund these activities, the programming, and facilities, they have planned a benefit.  The date of the event is January 15, 2015 in a local banquet hall.

Particularly, they wanted to help fund what we do for the economically disadvantaged and at-risk youth in Chillicothe, Ross County, and surrounding areas through Team Tokey Hill programming.  Our mission is to instill the character building blocks to promote positive behavioral change in our youth.  Team Tokey Hill provides safe, state of the art technology with the tradition of sport and athletic development.

I thought you might want to participate somehow in this event.  I would love for you to be able to come – but I also understand your busy schedule.  If there is anything you could do to help bring awareness to this benefit or if you would like to make a donation to help fund the programs we are running, I would greatly appreciate it.

I believe in these programs or I wouldn’t invest my time in doing them.  As I evaluate my life and career, I know that I must focus my attention on the things that really matter.  Besides my family and friends like you, that includes the things I can do to make a difference in the lives of kids that need our help.  After all, I was not much different than many of these kids we are helping!

Team Tokey Hill has made arrangements for transportation to and from the airport and to the scheduled events, a personalized site visit of the training center, and special pricing at the local hotels for our out of town guests.

Write me back if you would like to attend the fund raising event or let me know if you would like to make a donation.  I only ask because I believe we all can do something to make a difference.

Write me or give me a call and we can discuss the details.  Thanks for your time!

Sincerely,

Tokey Hill
